미나는 학교에서 집으로 걸어가고 있었다. 날씨가 좋았다. 미나는 음악을 들으면서 천천히 걸었다.

[Mina was walking home from school. The weather was nice. Mina walked slowly while listening to music.]

그때 벽에 무언가가 보였다. 종이 한 장이 붙어 있었다. 미나는 가까이 갔다.

[Then she saw something on a wall. A piece of paper was posted there. Mina went closer.]

‘이 사람을 찾습니다!’

[’Looking for this person!’]

큰 글씨 아래에 사진이 있었다. 미나는 사진을 봤다. 그리고 멈췄다.

사진 속 여자는 짧은 머리에 큰 눈을 가지고 있었다. 둥근 귀걸이를 하고 있었다. 검은색 옷을 입고 있었다.

미나는 자기 옷을 봤다. 검은색. 귀걸이를 만져 봤다. 둥근 귀걸이.

미나는 아래 글을 읽었다.

[Mina read the text below.]

‘이름: 김미나. 나이: 스물두 살. 키: 162센티미터.’

[’Name: Kim Mina. Age: 22. Height: 162cm.’]

전부 맞았다. 미나의 심장이 빨라졌다.

[Everything was right. Mina’s heart sped up.]

‘마지막으로 본 시간: 오늘 오후 2시.’

[’Last seen: today, 2 PM.’]

미나는 핸드폰을 봤다. 오후 4시 10분이었다. 그리고 알림이 47개 있었다. 전부 엄마였다.

[Mina looked at her phone. It was 4:10 PM. And there were 47 notifications. All from Mom.]

부재중 전화 23통. 문자 메시지 24개.

[23 missed calls. 24 text messages.]

첫 번째 문자: “미나야 밥 먹었어?”

[First text: “Mina, did you eat?”]

다섯 번째 문자: “왜 안 읽어?”

[Fifth text: “Why aren’t you reading these?”]

열 번째 문자: “전화 좀 받아.”

[Tenth text: “Answer your phone.”]

스무 번째 문자: “경찰에 전화할 거야.”

[Twentieth text: “I’m going to call the police.”]

마지막 문자: “전단지 200장 붙였다.”

[Last text: “I put up 200 flyers.”]

미나는 천천히 주위를 봤다. 왼쪽 벽에도 전단지. 오른쪽 가게에도 전단지. 길 건너편에도 전단지. 나무에도 전단지.

[Mina slowly looked around. Flyers on the left wall. Flyers on the store to the right. Flyers across the street. Flyers on the trees.]

미나는 한숨을 쉬었다. 그리고 엄마에게 전화했다.

[Mina sighed. And called her mom.]

“엄마, 나 살아 있어.”

[”Mom, I’m alive.”]

“미나야! 어디 있었어?! 두 시간 동안! 두 시간!”

[”Mina! Where have you been?! For two hours! Two hours!”]

“핸드폰이 무음이었어...”

[”My phone was on silent...”]

“무음?! 무음이면 어떡해!”

[”Silent?! What do you mean silent!”]

미나는 전단지를 한 장 떼었다. 사진이 정말 잘 나왔다. 미나는 웃었다.

[Mina peeled off one flyer. The photo actually came out really well. Mina laughed.]

“엄마, 이 사진 어디서 찾았어?”

[”Mom, where did you find this photo?”]

“인스타그램.”

[”Instagram.”]

미나는 다시 전단지를 봤다. 좋아요를 많이 받은 셀카였다. 전단지 맨 아래에 작은 글씨가 있었다.

[Mina looked at the flyer again. It was a selfie that had gotten a lot of likes. At the very bottom of the flyer, there was small text.]

‘참고: 이 아이는 항상 핸드폰을 무음으로 해 놓습니다. 발견하면 직접 흔들어 깨워 주세요.’

옆을 지나가던 할머니가 미나를 보고, 전단지를 보고, 다시 미나를 봤다.

[An elderly woman passing by looked at Mina, looked at the flyer, then looked at Mina again.]

“너 이 사람이지?”

[”You’re this person, right?”]

“...네.”

[”...Yes.”]

할머니가 핸드폰을 꺼냈다.

[The elderly woman took out her phone.]

“여보세요? 찾았어요. 네, 살아 있어요.”

[”Hello? I found her. Yes, she’s alive.”]

미나는 눈을 감았다.
